The World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report highlights the profound impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation on the global workforce by 2030. With 22% of jobs affected, 92 million positions may be displaced, yet 170 million new roles are expected to emerge, resulting in a net increase of 78 million jobs worldwide.
The report attributes the upcoming disruption to AI, generative technologies, and robotics automating routine tasks and altering roles across several sectors, including finance, transportation, education, and healthcare. Some roles, especially in clerical, administrative, and manual fields, could face significant declines. Conversely, opportunities are anticipated to grow in technology, analytics, and green energy sectors.
AI and automation are poised to manage 34% of tasks, and human-AI collaboration will comprise about 33% of workforce activities by the end of the decade. The skills gap remains a critical challenge, as 63% of employers identify it as a significant barrier. This has led to 85% of organizations investing in upskilling workers, emphasizing analytical thinking, technological literacy, and adaptability.

Strategic investment in skill development is essential to harness the potential of AI and automation while addressing the challenges posed by this technological shift.
